How To Say No To Fear – Live Fearlessly Through God’s Word

Childhood Memories

Have you ever had a time in your childhood where you were scared of the dark?

No, maybe it was just me but for some reason I never liked being in the dark. It was just something  horrendous about the unknown things that crept in the shadows.

I can’t exactly pinpoint when the sudden fear came but once it did, it stuck on me like hell on fire and it wasn’t much that I could do to shake that feeling.

Once I got a little older, the fear of the dark started to go away but the feeling of fear started to show up in different areas of my life.

Fear is so funny because there’s no way to explain it when it comes, one minute everything could be fine and then in a nano second you feel like you can’t hardly breathe because of all the thoughts that run rampant.

Recognize and Conquer Your Fears

That is when I realized that it wasn’t the things that made me fearful, but the feeling of not being good enough was the actual problem. Fear has a way of affecting anyone; it can literally leave you feeling crippled but one thing I know that helps with it is the ability to identify and conquer your fears, while reminding yourself of God’s word.

Fear was not included in the characteristics that God created you with he doesn’t want us to be fearful of the life he gave us but to trust him in it fully and know that he will guide us through.

Once I realized the root of my fears, I started to counter and conquer. Whenever I would feel fearful of trying something new, I would seek out my friends and family for support and encouragement to remind me exactly whose I was.

Bible Verses To Live By

Here are some great Bible verses to remember during those moments that fear tries to creep in.

  1. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4
  2. Fear not, for I am with you.” Isaiah 41:10
  3. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged. The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
  4. But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3
  5. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Remember you have the power of God behind you every step of the way. You are not a slave to fear but you are a child of the most high.
